Anyone Can grow Salad Greens

Growing your own salad greens is eco, easy and healthy

Salad greens & lettuces would have to have to be one of the simplest and easiest things to grow all year round and even for the most effective plant killers. You can grow most greens with a smidge of light on window sills in pots or add them in with other herbs.

The wonderful thing about salad lettuces is that you have 24 x 7 access to the freshest leaves around and you can simply pick the leaves as you need them.

Lettuces do grow best in winter, but will also grow in summer, just more slowly. Be careful not to leave them in super hot sun in summer. And summer or winter, lettuce needs plenty of water.

If you are a rank amateur or competent plant killer, it is probably smarter to purchase a punnet of seedlings along with enough plant nutrients to fill your pot from your local hardware or plant shop so you aren't fussing with coaching seedlings out of the ground.

Buy a few different kinds and you will have lettuces for every occasion:

  • Sorrell
  • Rocket (Arugula)
  • Baby Cos
  • Butter Lettuce
  • Spinach
  • Sorrell

Micro greens are now widely available and are also both super easy to grow and a great way to get an extremely nutrient dense plant at your finger tips.
