The People’s Fabric ethically source one-of-a-kind ikat textiles via a three-way partnership with a not-for-profit organisation called Planet Indonesia and a women’s weaving cooperative, both based in West Kalimantan on the island of Borneo, Indonesia. The vibrant ikat textiles used in our cushions, bags and baby booties are hand dyed and hand woven using traditional processes, and each tell their own story through the unique motifs woven into each piece. We share these stories through a weaver profile that accompanies each unique ikat piece so we can share the ikat’s journey with you – from community to couch.In addition to creating sales avenues for the weavers, being a member of the cooperative provides women with access to communal savings groups, which aids them in a variety of ways such as building their own business, sending their children to school or supporting their own and their family’s healthcare.

Elk & Ina is a collection of handmade clothing subscribing to the slow fashion movement. All pieces are designed, hand cut and sewn by seamstress/designer Kristina Forrest at her home studio in Brisbane, Australia. Most designs are made using GOTS certified 100% organic cotton. Organic woven cotton, Japanese cotton, Linen and upcycled vintage Japanese kimono fabric are also used in certain pieces.
