While Bauwerk have collaborated to create many design businesses on the development of their colour palates, this new one is particularly exciting as House of Grey are committed to providing a positive design legacy, from creation to disposal. Louisa Grey says that after having developed their aesthetic, she is now interested in pioneering health and contentment in interior design - in a whole person, whole world context.
"EACH DECISION MADE IN THE DESIGN PROCESS IS BASED ON OUR SYMBIOTIC PRINCIPLE OF USING NATURAL MATERIALS THAT BENEFIT HUMAN HEALTH THROUGHOUT THEIR USE AND ACTIVELY FEED THE EARTH UPON DISPOSAL.
WE ARE NO LONGER SIMPLY FINDING SUSTAINABLE DESIGN SOLUTIONS, OUR WORK IS NOW FOCUSED ON ELIMINATING THE PROBLEM ALTOGETHER."
Together with House of Grey, Bauwerk have developed Visual Silence, a collection of 9 new colours as part of a sensory narrative designed to bring a deeper human connection to the spaces we create by elevating the material sensibilities and nuanced qualities of earth pigments.
Bauwerk's range of natural limestone paints are free of toxins and provide a healthy alternative to chemical-based paints as every hue in any collection allows your walls to breathe when combined with other natural building materials such as render, plaster and clay.
The Visual Silence colour palette is made by using a variety of bases including clay, stone, chalk, earth, slate and limestone. Natural pigments such as green earth, earth clay, white clay, umber, burnt umber, plant black and ochre create the colours. Each nuance in colour has its own qualities and as the paint refracts the light, its natural beauty is revealed to the beholder. 'Reflection' has been the most popular.
